Macros
Forever uses the modern client's macro system: conditions in square brackets, one spell on the global cooldown per press, 255 characters. Here are the rules, the commands and starter macros for each class.
The rules
ONE PRESS, ONE GCD SPELL
A macro can put things off the global cooldown first (a trinket, /startattack, a pet command), but it never casts two global-cooldown spells, never waits and never decides by cooldowns or buffs.
255 CHARACTERS
Open the window with /macro or Esc → Macros. The name holds 16 characters. Leave the rank off a spell name to cast your highest rank.
/RUN IS ADDON CODE
Forever uses the modern addon rules, so a /run script sees in combat only what an addon may. See Addons.
SCROLLS USE THE GCD
Since the October 16 beta update, scrolls trigger the global cooldown, so a macro can't read a scroll and cast a spell on one press. UNCONFIRMED
Conditions you'll use
| Condition | Meaning |
|---|---|
[@mouseover] | Target the unit under your cursor |
[@focus] | Target your focus (set with /focus) |
[@player] | Target yourself |
[help] / [harm] | Friendly / hostile target |
[nodead] / [exists] | Target alive / target exists |
[mod:shift] | Shift held (also ctrl, alt) |
[stance:1] | In stance or form 1 |
[combat] | You are in combat |
[] at the end | Fallback: your normal target |
Commands
| Command | What it does |
|---|---|
| /cast | Casts a spell, with conditions in front |
| /castsequence | Casts the next spell in a list each press; reset=target, combat, a number of seconds, or shift/ctrl/alt, joined with / |
| /use | Uses an item, or a slot number (13 and 14 are trinkets) |
| /startattack, /stopattack | Starts or stops auto attack |
| /stopcasting | Stops your cast so the next line goes off |
| /cancelaura, /cancelform | Removes a buff by name, or leaves your form |
| /stopmacro | Ends the macro here, e.g. /stopmacro [nopet] |
| /focus | Sets your focus |
| #showtooltip | First line: shows the spell's icon and tooltip on the button |
Commands come from the Forever client's own strings (build 1.60.1.70532), as listed by MMOnster; castsequence details are from the community wiki.

Tips
- A /castsequence won't move on until the current spell succeeds, so keep cooldown spells out of it.
- Class changes renamed some spells. If a macro shows a red question mark, check the name in your spellbook.
- A beta player reported a Warlock castsequence stuck on Curse of Weakness rank 2+ in the first slot UNCONFIRMED. Putting it later fixed it.
- Pair macros with good keybinds.
